Dear Community and Technical Colleges Family,

Hello, and I hope you are having a fantastic and joyous day.

I am a list maker. I feel good when I check things off my list. I encourage you to add and check off registering for the 2022 Spring Student Success Institute (Bitly Link for Google Document and Registration link: https://bit.ly/34IiSSDP<https://bit.ly/34IiSPD>) as part of your list today.

On Another Note, I read an article on Insider Higher Ed called College President Confident, With An Asterisk by Doug Lederman.
Link to the article: https://bit.ly/3tlbQsl

It is an interesting comparison of the state of higher education (4-year and 2-year) across the country and the president's projections for the future. The article summarizes the Insider Higher Eds 2022 Survey of College and University Presidents. I must admit, the author has an intriguing use of language in their analysis. However, rather than tell you what comments made me laugh, smile, feel hopeful, or raise an eyebrow - I encourage you to take a glimpse.

I recognize that many of us on the listserve may want to aspire to be a college or university president or may never serve as a College President. Nevertheless, the article provides you with an opportunity to have some campus conversations on if what was shared is your possible campus reality.

I often have mentors in executive leadership roles ask me (when we open the space for an honest conversation) why no one told them about abc123. Luckily enough, I have known many of my mentors since I was a student. I usually follow with this question, when was there a space to really share with you, and would you want to hear it with a learning and curious mind. Would you have recognized the vulnerability in sharing something where the person have not authority, power, or positionality to determine their reality at work. I love that at the CTCs, many leaders engage in the space of respectfully flattening hierarchical structures to build with their front-line team members. It is often something you do not see in many higher education spaces. You rock!

Lastly, do not ever think you did not do or slowed down your Guided Pathways (GP) work during the height and as we continue within the viral Pandemic. In reality, every CTC speed up their GP work. This large amount of work was not called Guided Pathways because you saw a need, so naturally, you created solutions. Instead, this priceless work you did (individually and collectively) was called better serving our students, teams, colleagues, and community.

Danki and mi ta stiba abo. [translation: thank you and Much luv].

The value of your personal time is priceless, please feel obliged to not reply to this email outside of your working hours.

Respectfully and Humbly,
