There are some good points in this document.

I’d add in some language under the evaluation section that clearly lays out the ability to use the software using only the keyboard.

I took in a talk yesterday in the virtual Accessing Higher Ground conference presented by two of the key people from the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights regarding how they assess higher education web sites for accessibility. They don’t rely very much upon automatic checkers but do manually check in the following areas:

Is there a section of the web site for making reservations for a room? Is that accessible to all?

Looking at color contrast use one of the commonly used tools for that.

Are the videos captioned AND are those captions accurate?

Are online documents accessible? (Word, PDF)

Can the site be magnified to 200% (soon will change to 400% with WCAG 2.1) for proper reflow of content?

Keyboard only navigation/interaction was emphasized more than once in the talk.

In addition to the points mentioned regarding a good VPAT and knowing the company’s timeline of development as it pertains to accessibility improvements it would be great to add in some contractual bite wherein they share some liability financially for not making the software accessible within an agreed upon timeline and/or when an institution has to pay out a settlement for failing to meet accessibility needs.

Good Morning Everyone!

I attended a session from IMS Global this morning entitled “In It Together: Sharing the Accessibility Vetting Load”. In this session they shared an accessibility rubric<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ggQdAkVIioazUYsBTxHViojaEFCNo-ydfGin1q1634A/edit?usp=sharing> that they are working on. Currently they have identified the questions for the rubric but have not created the scoring matrix yet. As this develops it could be useful for the work we are doing as well as the work that ETAG (I have CC’d them on this) is doing around the App Store. I can send out the recording of the session once it becomes available.
