[DEOC] FYI

Thank you for sharing.

I appreciate the resource and the message you sent to your community. I sent a joint communication with the President. Now we find ourselves, looking the Holocaust Reverberance in the face with the constant flow of antisemitism and the loss of another black man to the hands of officers. We are planning a college-wide discussion or a "holding space" opportunity. We are partnering with students and I think it will be a great place to disseminate the resource you share. I think a collective letter from the commission would be powerful for those suffering in silence and seeking refuge. Just my perspective and I greatly appreciate you sharing.

Make sure to check in on yourself and your people.

In strength,

Melanie Dixon

Good Afternoon,

As we all grapple with how and or if to respond to the violence over this past weekend and continue to see; this is the message I sent to our community on Monday! Mind you, this impacts us all and I'm also planning a broad community conversation to include Students, Staff and Faculty, local Law Enforcement and mental health professionals from various communities to talk about impacts to and within our various communities. We may even want to craft a DEO Response if we see that as being a needed step. And let's not also forget Domestic Violence as part of this conversations especially in our Queer and other Historically Underrepresented Communities.

Good Morning LWTech,

This weekend as is too often the case, a community within our community has been devastated by gun violence at a Lunar New Year Celebration in Monterey Park, California. We know community violence isn't limited to one segment of our society as it's impacts are long lasting and difficult to navigate. On behalf of Dr. Morrison, Executive Cabinet, and the Office of EDI we give our full support to our Asian Colleagues and the Asian community as the details of this horrific event continue to unfold.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has shared this helpful information that can support us as we continue to support understand and realize the impacts of this tragedy.

EAP is here for you. Their service is confidential and free. They can be reached at 877-313-4455<tel:877-313-4455> and the attached flyer is an item we urge you to read and keep readily available in the event you or a colleague need to lean into this level of support.

Humbly and in Community with you all.
