Hi Jed,

My Business Analyst just notified me of a new query that we’ll need to create a Pop Update for in our ISIR jobsets to support this mini-jobset with creating College Financing Plans for VA compliance. The query is QCS_FA_SB_SVET_AID_YR_ACTV. Are you going to be sending us instructions on how to set up the pop update, and where in our jobset it should be added?

We have some exciting news to share of pop-update processes for Service Account ISIR Jobsets!

A mini-pop-update job has been added to your Service Account shells to address requests by our FA Community. If you choose not to have one or more of these processes run nightly, you do not need to create any run control for that process. The EMPTY mock run control does not need to be put in place of a blank SCC_POP_UPD slot 😊, the jobset will continue to process if one of these slots is not utilized.

The Mini-Job for POPUPDATE processes is FAPOPUPD and is added to the end of your institution’s Service Account jobshell (xxxISIRS). This mini-job contains 3 SCC_POP_UPD slots for the following 3 processes:

  1.  Packaging Variables (SCC_POP_UPD): Assigning Packaging Variables for Enrollment Intensity/FLF Process | 9.2 FA - Packaging and Awards | ctcLink Reference Center<https://ctclinkreferencecenter.ctclink.us/m/92427/l/1943257-assigning-packaging-variables-for-enrollment-intensity-flf-process>
The Packing Variables pop update process is to update, in mass, the Enrollment Intensity Values to 1.00 on the Assign Packaging Variables page. The process is the first step in the Enrollment Level Hold/Service Indicator-Enrollment Intensity process.

This process identifies students whose enrollment intensity at the time of awarding is different than the enrollment intensity at the time of authorization and disbursement. In addition, the process identifies students who need their awards adjusted from full-time to less-than-full-time.

The Assign Packaging Variables process specifically updates the User Var Num #1 - #4 fields on the Assign Packaging Variables page from ‘0‘ to ‘1.00’; setting all 4 terms to enrollment intensity 100%.

Many of our FA queries and packaging plan equation engines are tied to STDNT_AID_ATRBT (Packaging Status Summary) record and a criteria of ACAD_CAREER = ‘UGRD’. Therefore, when the Academic Career value is blank or ‘UNKN’ for a student on the Packaging Status Summary page, it can cause issues with packaging aid (i.e. packaging plans award both CBS and WBG to the student) as well as the student is not selected in queries.

Run the new pop-update process to find and update students in mass.

To Assign in Batch, the Shopping Sheet Group: SHOPGRP01 on the View Packing Status Summary page so students are assigned security for their CFP.

Please make sure to share this information with whomever is the current access point for your Service Account so these processes may be added.

We have tested this newly added mini-job for processing time and resource allocation. Only 1-2 minutes were added for processing time, the average time being less than one minute.
