Just heard about this presentation on Friday at UW. I'm going to try to go.

Most of you probably have not yet heard about Microsoft Presentation Translator<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/garage/profiles/presentation-translator/>, a free plug-in for PowerPoint that will create real-time captions during your presentation. Presentation Translator uses Artificial Intelligence to capture what you are saying, and turning it into text. This has fantastic potential for anyone who needs captions, or could benefit from receiving a transcript of a presentation.

One of the cool features is the multiple language support. While the presentation may speak in one language, you can read the captions in a language of your choice, providing an inclusive environment for all.

Presentation Translator is a Microsoft Garage Project, meaning that it is still in beta form (if you will), getting the bugs worked out before it becomes mainstream into Office 365 (integration in desktop products will come down the road).

I personally used it during my presentation at a conference two weeks ago. While I won't claim perfection, it was superbly exciting. All it required was a quick install and a good microphone headset.

If anyone wants to know more, there is a presentation this Friday, December 1, 2017. It will be in Miller 301, in 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. One of the project leads, Will Lewis<mailto:wilewis at microsoft.com>, will be sharing more details. Also see the attached PDF for more info.
