[Cato] FW: Fw: Considering MailChimp: Accessibility of MailChimp?

My continuing email string with MailChimp re: Accessibility… This latest response is the most detailed and least dismissive of all of them from “Liza.”

Apparently they are too complex a program to put together a VPAT!

Sigh….

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your patience.

Because there are a variety of different ways our users can engage with our system, and noting the different devices and device versions in use, we are unable to outline what features are not accessible--as this all depends on device capability.

That said, we can discuss how we approach web accessibility and remediation efforts on a case-by-case basis. Whenever there is a reported accessibility issue, we engage a team of researchers and developers to work with the reporting individual to understand where the issue is occurring. Once we have identified a fix, we will quickly put it in place and follow-up with the user to ensure it's functioning properly.

Additionally, our mobile app is highly accessible and designed to function with the built-in accessibility tools within iOS and android. In the event we are unable to resolve issues with our web interface with an individual, we will usually direct them to our mobile app to see if the functionality can be achieved there.

Thank you,
Liza

Ok - how about a list of what is not yet accessible? Ideally with a timeline for anticipated fixes.

Thank you for your response Liza. If you do not have a current VPAT, can you share the results from the most recent evaluation by accessibility specialists? That would be truly helpful.

Thank you in advance,

Amy

Hello Amy,

Thank you for your interest in using MailChimp.

We do our best to ensure MailChimp is accessible to all users. In addition to having our site periodically evaluated by accessibility specialists, we also work with differently abled users' to test their devices with our system to identify or troubleshoot potential accessibility issues and do our best to flag accessibility issues during our QA process before releases.

Because MailChimp's application is updated so regularly, we can't guarantee that it will always function as expected for every user at any given time. That said, we don't have a VPAT.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,

Liza

Hello,

I'm at a Washington State meeting for Community and Technical Colleges and MailChimp came up as a potential tool to use to help with Marketing efforts. We are required by Federal and now State Policies to only purchase and use accessible IT on our 34 campuses.

We would like to know about the accessibility of your product and need to have a VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) on to review and have on file. Do you have such resources and could you please send them to me?

Thank you in advance,
Amy
