[BLC] Meeting Follow-Up- Accelerating Credit for Prior Learning

BLC folks,
Sorry for the delay in distributing this, but as promised at our last BLC meeting, I'm sending out our proceedings from our Summer Workshop, Accelerating STEM Student Pathways with Credit for Prior Learning.

This document links to a couple of things:

  1.  the panel video, which clearly describes the benefit of adopting/accelerating prior learning
  2.  lessons learned from our project at South Seattle College with the design and implementation of the Multi-Occupation in Engineering and Technology AAS-T degree. This degree adopts an accelerated PLA approach and articulates into our BAS Sustainable Building Science Technology Pathway and could articulate to others. Target student audience are incumbent workers and active military/veterans with existing knowledge, skills, abilities and limited or scattered academic credit.

Please let me know if you want to chat more about this and especially if you would like our project team to come to your Community of Practice meeting, of which I learned there are a few in specific areas related to BAS degrees across the state, to learn about our model and possible adoption/replication of it as pathway into a larger suite of BAS programs that are related.
