[Wsssc] Food packaging regulation outreach

Hello WSSSC,

SBCTC received a request from the Department of Ecology for help reaching out to college purchasing and food services folks about new and upcoming requirements designed to reduce litter and PFAS pollution from disposable food packaging and service ware. Those requirements are:


  *   Use PFAS-free food packaging.
  *   Avoid expanded polystyrene (EPS).
  *   Look for compostable product labeling.
  *   Avoid single-use plastic carryout bags.
  *   Ask customers before giving out single-use serviceware.

Ecology wants to help food service folks understand how to comply with these requirements as they purchase and distribute disposable food packaging and serviceware. Two of these restrictions have deadlines approaching in May (PFAS) and June (EPS).
