At Olympic, we have a Director of Community Standards and Student Conduct. He also serves as our college's Title IX Coordinator. He reports to me, but that's only because his partner is my AVP for Student Development & Engagement (who also serves as the Dean of Students). Ideally, as it pertains to appeals and work processes, he would report to that AVP role.

We recently hired a Director of Wellbeing & Health Promotion. He will be co-chairing the CARE Team with me. The Director of Community Standards and Student Conduct serves as a core member of the team.

As issues come up in the residence hall, there's a consultation process between the Residence Hall Manager and the Director of Community Standards and Student Conduct, but issues typically run through conduct. They have their own agreements and community norms in the residence hall, but we want to position the Residence Hall Manager as a resource and support rather than a disciplinarian.

Our Associate Dean for Enrollment Services is our Conduct Officer. Our Associate Dean for Advising and Support Services is the chair of our CARE team.
They both report to me. I am the Conduct Review Officer.

Hi Keri,

Our conduct officer is our Assistant Dean for Student Conduct & Student Life and they report to Cheryl, VP for Student Services. This person manages our SBIT team. Our Director of Housing takes care of the minor offenses in our residence hall, but anything outside of that they are referred to our conduct officer. We do not have a separate conduct process for housing.

Kerri, our conduct officer is our Dean of Student Success and they report to me. I'm the Conduct Review Officer. We do not have campus residence; however our dean has a very busy role and it's a stretch with conduct.

Hello WSSSC Colleagues - who does your conduct manager/officer report to on your campus? Do they also manage your BIT/CARE teams, and if not, what is their role on that team?

For those with residence halls, is there any overlap or separate process for student residents around conduct? For example, does your housing manager run students through a conduct process or refer to the conduct manager?

Currently, our Director for Residence Life is also our Community Standards director. That is essentially one person doing two big jobs that have a lot of legal compliance and am wanting to make sure there is no conflict of interest between the two roles, while creating a more balanced position.
