[Wsssc] Commission Feedback for Person Name Description Modification Proposal

Hello Commission Members,

As your Data Governance Committee (DGC) Representative, I am bringing you a proposal, Person Name Description Modification (attached).

The problem this proposed solution solves is the language of "Preferred" name implies that the name a person uses is only a preference and can be ignored. Additionally, some search fields do not allow a search on preferred name, forcing students to deadname themselves.

The attached proposal provides five recommendations to align with inclusive language and helps students be seen and supported.

The proposal was developed by the demographic subcommittee<https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/commissions-councils/dgc/members-committees> of DGC.
