After a year of participation from Legislators, College Presidents,
Vice-Presidents, Students, Counselors and State Board Staff .... the final
report required by House Bill 1355 has been completed (see attached).

This legislative task force was charged with exploring minimum system
standards for counselor staffing and qualifications as well as to identify
some best practices in CTC counseling services.

HB 1355 was passed by the legislature and signed by the governor in April
2019. This was the successful result of advocacy from the first ever
WCTCCA legislative task force.

See the bill here:

There were lots of our counselor colleagues that helped this process along
the way. Their valuable hard work and significant contributions helped
lead us to this final report.

Hopefully this work will result in some future substantial system reforms
that strengthen the level of qualified CTC counselors in response to our
diverse students/citizens complex educational, career and personal needs.

Be well,

Earl
