[Wactclc-alma] PubMed Central collection has PubMed.gov portfolios

We don’t have the PubMed Central or PubMedCentral Open Access electronic collections activated, but I see what you mean about the CDI record not linking directly to the full-text article for PubMed Central.

You can get to the full-text of the article by clicking the DOI link below the authors and the Full Text Links on the side

Judging from what I’m seeing with other articles on the PubMed.gov platform, it looks like they always have some kind of “landing page” with article metadata that just links out to the full-text article where available.

That kind of makes sense to me because PubMed is a search platform intended primarily for use by biomedical researchers. (It’s available to the general public, but that’s not who it’s geared toward.) PubMed exists so scientists & medical professionals can find out a published article exists, whether the article is available online or not.  Given how many science articles are embargoed after publication, you need a platform that shows you the metadata records first and foremost and lets you add links to full-text later.

Don’t know if that made any sense.

I tested access to the Diabetes Care portfolio in the Electronic Collection of PubMed Central, and that same thing happens, it goes to PubMed.gov, so it's not just the one article.

Am I missing something, or need to change something, or do some maintenance somewhere? I'm fairly certain this is not the only portfolio this happens with, it's just the one I found today. It's not a local collection, so maybe I should report it?
