Thanks, Kirsti!  That worked in a very bizarre way.
I ended up with two holdings records attached to the bib I wanted to keep and they both appeared to have 3 items in inventory.
Got that sorted out, and deleted the now-orphan bibs, and “It will be OK!”

I still remember relinking an item, and Alma offered to delete the holdings and bib record.
Maybe she didn’t like the fact that I was relinking to a different title … but when I deleted the orphans, I got a warning that there were related titles. Aargh.

So right now you have

You want to end up with:

Can you relink Holdings #2 and Holdings #3 to Bib #1?
              Do a Physical Titles search
              Select “Holdings” (from either of the 2 places it shows up)

              Select Relink and relink to the appropriate bib record.

You may want to take screenshots of each holdings record in the MD Editor before you try this.

I think when you relink a holdings record to a bib that already has a holdings record with the same location, Alma moves all the item records onto the destination holdings record and then completely deletes the first holdings record.  It’s usually not a big deal, but if the MARC field data isn’t identical, you run the risk of losing whatever info was in the holdings record that got deleted/merged.

Did that make sense?


It will be ok!

“Relink items to another Bibliographic record” is not working for me.

I have a 3-volume set that was catalogued separately and I want to relink the items one bib and holdings record.
I have relinked item records to other bib/holdings record before,  but now I get an error message when I try to select the holdings record to relink the item: “Please select a value”
There is no check box for the holdings record I want to use. Should there be?

Should I open a case with Ex Libris?
