Kirsti,

My Films on Demand import was successful, and FOD authenticates seamlessly from OneSearch now.

Your guidance made a real difference.

Thank you so much,
Kyle

Navigate to the import profile you used via Resources > Import > Manage import profiles

Once you find the import profile, click the button with the 3 dots and select "Edit"

Click on the Inventory Information tab.

Here are the settings you need to have for the portfolio records to get attached to the electronic collection:

Portfolio type = Part of an electronic collection
Electronic collection = [name for the appropriate electronic collection]
Single Portfolio button selected

[cid:image001.png at 01D90E23.150A48A0]

At the very bottom of the page you also want to make sure that the Activate resource box is checked.

[cid:image002.png at 01D90E23.150A48A0]

Once you've confirmed those, look at the box for Create inventory only for new bibliographic records. Is it checked?

If that box is checked *and* you deleted the portfolio records but not their attached bib records before importing the new file of vendor records, then Alma won't create new portfolio records as part of the import.

If you look at the Bibliographic Records Imported section of the Job Report for the import, what do you see? Something like this where there's a big number on the Overlaid records line?

[cid:image003.png at 01D90E23.150A48A0]

If that Create inventory only for new bibliographic records box is checked *and* the job report shows the incoming bib records overlaid existing bib records, the easiest fix is probably to uncheck that Create inventory only for new bibliographic records box on the import profile, import all the vendor MARC records again, and then go back into the import profile and check the Create inventory only for new bibliographic records box.

The next time you delete the Films On Demand portfolio records, you'll want to make sure you delete the bib records too.

P.S. I feel obligated to mention that the first time I ever loaded Films On demand records for Seattle Colleges was back when we were on a cloud-hosted Voyager ILS. I didn't know Voyager was set to reboot every night at midnight (my previous ILS only got rebooted once a week). I also didn't know that if an import job got interrupted by Voyager rebooting, Voyager started the job over from the very beginning and kept doing that until it finally reached the end of the import file.

About two weeks after I first imported the Films On Demand records, I got an email from a colleague asking why there were so many duplicate Films On Demand titles in the OPAC.

I think there were over 300,000 records by then.

I finally killed the import job and then had to spend several days figuring out how to identify and delete all the bib records that had been created.

As my South Seattle colleague Patricia Naylor says, "Mistakes enhance the learning process."

It will be ok!

Good afternoon,

Thank you for all your help so far. I appreciate your time.

However, unfortunately, I'm still having some trouble.

I imported the new complete list of FOD records using the "Films on Demand new portfolios" Import Profile; however, the new imported records didn't become portfolios in our Film on Demand electronic collection. Our Films on Demand electronic collection has zero portfolios.

Did I neglect to complete a step?

The extra letter could very well be in all your Films On Demand Portfolio records.

To find out for sure, you can do an Advanced Respository search of electronic portfolios with 2 search criteria:

Electronic Collection - Electronic Collection Name - Starts With - Films On Demand

Electronic Portfolio - URL - Contains Keywords - login?qurl=

[cid:image006.png at 01D90E23.150A48A0]
Compare the number or portfolio records that show up in your search results with the number or portfolios in your Films On Demand electronic collection.

Deleting all your Films On Demand bib and portfolio records and reloading everything from scratch should fix the problem (assuming the URL is ok in the vendor records).

It will be ok!

Kirsti, does that mean there is an extraneous "q" in the "Static URL" field in all of our Films on Demand portfolios and deleting them and uploading them again using the process you described earlier will resolve the issue?

Thank you so much for your help. This has been a useful learning experience for me.

There's a "q" in between "login?" and "url=" in the Static URL field.

All our static URLs for Films On Demand have "login?url="

Yours has "login?qurl="

If you take that q out, does that fix the problem?

When I go into our Films On Demand electronic collection and look at the Electronic Service > Linking Tab

I see the same settings that Centralia has (although our Proxy stuff is under the Group Settings tab instead of the Linking tab because of us having 1 Alma and 3 Primos). See attached screenshot.

Carliegh-- can you take a look at the linking tab for the portfolio record of the movie Wit (starring Emma Thompson) in Centralia's Alma? My guess is that the URL in the portfolio record is bad.

It will be ok!

Ryan, I took a look at the Service Editor and I think there might be an issue between the Portfolio level linking and the Collection Linking.
Kirstie can you review these screen shots I grabbed?

Hi, Kirsti,

I am new in this position, so I haven't added Film on Demand records to Alma yet.

As I understand it though, generally the process is: we download all MARC records from Infobase, delete all Films on Demand portfolios in Alma, and upload the new complete set.

I haven't done this yet, but that's the process that has been described to me.

Thank you,

Kyle

Kyle,

The link from "Films On Demand" under the "Full text availability" part of the display is coming from the portfolio record.

The link from "Part of the Films on Demand collection" under the "Links" part of the display is coming from a MARC field in the bib record.

What this suggests to me is that there's a problem with how you're importing your Films On Demand records.

Can you provide some details about how you get Films On Demand bib records and portfolio records into Alma?

It will be ok!

Good afternoon, All,

We have been having issues with Films on Demand authentication from Onesearch.

>From Onesearch, if one clicks the "Films on Demand" link under "Full text availability" as seen below circled in red, one receives the error screen pictured in the second screen shot. However, if one clicks "Part of the Films on Demand collection" link as seen below circled in green, Films on Demand authenticates seamlessly.

I spoke with Infobase tech support yesterday, and they said the error may have something to do with the "WID" value not being configured correctly in Alma, but they didn't know where that would be done in Alma.

If you look at the URL in the second screen shot below, the "wID=0" on the error screen. However, when Films on Demand authenticates normally, the WID equals our six digit identifier, as I am sure it's supposed to.

I would be grateful for any suggestions that you might have.
