[Wactclc-alma] Norm rule

I'm importing from OCLC and 95% of the time those three fields are there, but once in a while (especially if it is a self-published book) they aren't there. There have been more requests that the librarians have put in for books that were published by lesser known publishers or self-published books. Those MARC records (if any) tend to be very sparse on details.

I'll put in this in the meeting notes as well, but for those of you who were on the call today, here is the correct syntax for filtering on process type date in the Physical Items subject area, when you want to filter relative to current date:

      "Physical Item Details"."Process Type Date" > (TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, -3, CURRENT_DATE))

In this example, the formula will select all process type dates greater than 3 days in the past (current date minus 3 days)

Kudos to Dan, as he was the one who mentioned misplaced or missing parentheses, and that's exactly what I was missing this morning, those outer parens that are underlined above.

Hi everyone:

For those of you who are interested in the discussion we had this morning about Skagit's very weird Analytics problem, here it is:

I have created an Analytics report that shows the number of laptops and hotspots that are available in each of our campus libraries. However, when I created the report, I created it as a Physical Item Inventory report, NOT a Fulfillment report, which would have allowed me to show the library desk it was loaned from.

So, we sent some equipment from one campus to another, but this report doesn't show that - it shows the availability in the location where the item came from. I *think* that this is because the items' temporary location didn't get set and the location didn't get changed.

The question is do we need to change future practice so that we make sure the location is changed once the items go over to the other campus, OR should I have created this report as a Fulfillment report - would that still have allowed me to sort and show items by their current process status(how many on loan, available, etc.).

Hopefully we can figure this out on Thursday...

(Feel like these are word problems that should be included in Gary Larson's"Hell's Library" - or maybe it's El's Library ):

Hello all,

I've come across enough records while importing (or having to do original cataloging) that I decided to make a norm rule to add the 336, 337, and 338 fields to the MARC record. I've successfully done the norm rule and it works... It just adds them to the end of the record. Does anyone know if there is a way to edit the norm rule so it adds them in numeric order?

Victoria,

Are you importing records from OCLC? If so, those should already have the 33X fields and you shouldn't need a Norm Rule to add the fields. Where are you getting the records from?
