Sorry, Charly (pun intended, for those of an age who can remember the old tunafish ad 😊),

I didn’t see your posting from last week.

Could you send me the ID # of a patron that erroneously received a new patron notice?

I’d like to take a look.

Technically, the new welcome letter is sent when the patron role is added to a user account.

I don’t think updating the Primary ID results in a welcome letter being sent. I recently did the ID crosswalk in the Edmonds environment, and when I look at crosswalked user, I don’t see a welcome letter in the attachments tab. But I’d like to take a look.

Just a reminder about the new patron welcome letter, from the Dec 2020 release notes:

Patron Welcome Letter
December 2020 Administration and Infrastructure
When adding a patron role to a user, whether manually, through a job, via API or SIS, the Patron Welcome Letter is now sent. The letter can be turned off for user records that are added via an SIS import or for linked accounts by configuring the XSL.

We think it might have to do with the importing of the new CTCLink ID and Alma reading this record modification as a "new record" thus triggering the notification.  Whenever did get to the bottom of it but I noticed all the erroneous messages were to patron records with the new number.

Hi everyone,

I'm getting several replies to our Patron Welcome Letter from expired patrons and individuals claiming to have never registered at our college. My understanding of the Patron Welcome Letter is that it goes out to every new, unique record detected in the patron load. Any reason these invalid email accounts would be receiving it?
