Deb,

External authentication is different and separately managed at each campus, and the type of authentication varies. So it's difficult to compare notes between institutions on that.

For that reason, authentication configuration and troubleshooting needs to be coordinated with your campus IT folks.

The authentication configuration settings on the Alma side can be found in:

Alma Admin / General / Integration Profiles

The currently active authentication profile at CPTC is the one called 'CPTC LDAP'  (representing configuration against CPTC's Active Directory service)

You can review the settings on the 'Actions' tab of that integration profile with your IT folks to ensure the settings are correct, and still match what is in place at CPTC.

In addition to the correctly configured settings, the Active Directory server at CPTC must have a valid public-issued SSL certificate installed (IT will know what that means).

And the relevant CPTC campus firewall ports for authentication traffic need to be open to/from the following addresses in the ExLibris data center:

64.74.237.229
66.151.7.138
66.151.7.216

Alma / Primo can support authentication via ADFS, Azure, and Okta, in addition to Active Directory. So if any of those platforms have been implemented at CPTC, those are options as well, if Active Directory can no longer be used.

Hi, y'all -

We're having an issue with external account logins - that is, anyone with an external account type cannot log into Alma or Primo.  Any attempt to do so produces the following error messages:

Alma - Your login attempt has failed. The username or password or location may be incorrect.

Primo - Invalid UserID and/or Password. Please re-enter.

Library staff can use our administrative and circ accounts, which are both internal, and CPTC students, faculty and staff aren't exactly clamoring to log into their accounts in Primo, so it's not a super urgent issue - but, it is a problem we would be delighted to solve!

Has anyone else experienced this?  Is it an Alma issue?  An issue with our SIS upload?  Something else?

Any wisdom from the collective is very welcome.  Thanks!  :-)
