[Wactclc-alma] due date extension question

A couple of lessons learned from the bulk change if you decide to go that way. Don’t make the same mistakes we did! :)

· Make sure your Alma calendar is correct, especially with some of us telling Alma we are closed during the pandemic. Depending on your settings, if you bulk update to a date where Alma thinks your closed, it will move the due date to another time.

· Consider whether this letter is enabled (Loan Status letter (letter code: FulItemChangeDueDateLetter)) and if so does it communicate what you want it to.

Kirsti, as always, is correct. It will not move due dates past a student’s expiration date.

Best,
Lesley

Maybe.

It mostly depends on what expiration dates are in your patron records.

Alma will never, ever let an item check out past the expiration date in someone's patron record. But if patrons don't have expiration dates in the past, the Bulk Change Due Dates job will push out the due dates.

You can identify students not enrolled in Summer Quarter who have things checked out without having to run the Bulk Change Due Dates job.

In Alma Analytics, create an Analysis in the Fulfillment Subject Area.

The report we're using for this has the following Criteria:

Borrower Details
User Group
Primary Identifier
Last Name
First Name
Expiry Date = [Spring, Winter, etc. expiration date(s)]

Item Location at time of loan
Library Name
Location Name

Bibliographic Details
Title

Physical Item Details
Description

Loan Details
Barcode
Process Type = Loan
Loan Status = Active

It will be ok!

Subject: [Wactclc-alma] due date extension question

Hi everyone I had a question I was unable to get out on today's call concerning my methodology for extending due dates in Summer quarter. At Edmonds we're allowing students with laptops on loan to keep them for summer quarter pending confirmation of enrollment. We also will need to identify the students in the summer who still have items on loan but are not enrolled in Summer quarter.

My idea was to wait a couple days after the first day of summer classes and run a due date extension job on all loans. If I understand this correctly, the items on loan to students enrolled in summer quarter will be extended while the items on loan to non students will fail, and consequently, provide a list of the item barcodes I can then match to the patron.

AmI understanding this correctly?

Charly
