FYI... our ScienceDirect collections were affected by this today, because I had parser parameter overrides in place. However when I deleted the overrides, everything is working just fine. Which makes me think that the original problem that my overrides were solving had already been fixed by EL and the overrides were no longer necessary.

In any case, it sounds like there may be issues with any database for which you have a parser parameter override in place, but they will fix it tonight for NA.

Dear Dana,

I agree with Alex, and a more specific timeframe for resolution would also be helpful.

I am surprised the status page continues to display the service as operating normally, this does not reflect the level of disruption we are experiencing - particularly given the current situation with lockdown and the resulting reliance on online resources.

Dear Dana,

Is there any way of us gauging how many of our e-resources might be affected? Not all of ours are.

We are being called to address the issue as a major incident here (considering the situation with lockdown) - It would help if we knew what percentage of our resources might be affected. I'm guessing most sites affected are spending a lot of time having the same discussions.

Thanks
Alex

Subject: Re: [ALMA-L] Electronic service level overrides not working - possible Alma release regression?

Hi All,
Further to the email below we would like to share additional information regarding the issue we have reported below.

Alma link resolution will not work properly in the following cases:

  1. APAC and North America

     * Local standalone portfolios with static URL
     * Local portfolios with static URL that override dynamic URL defined at the level of the collection service

  1. Europe

     *   Portfolios with linking parameters

The difference between the effect on APAC/North America and Europe is due to an earlier fix that was first implemented in the EU instances last night which requires further development.
Once the fix development is done, the complete fix will be implemented at all of the instances at once.

We can assure you that we are dealing with this issue with the highest priority and will issue a fix later today.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this problem is causing.

Hi Zac,

Thanks, that certainly helps - I was doing something similar. I am a little worried though as some of the collections we've found don't come up using these parameters in Analytics.

Also thanks Stacey for your case number. Yes I agree I'm thinking it could well be related to the July release. Not a good start to the week!

Hi all,

Thanks for alerting us to this problem and the fix. It seems to be fairly easy to identify the problem collections using Analytics. In an 'E-Inventory' analysis, you can create a report where "Service Parser Parameters (override)" is Not Null. I could only identify 6 potential problem collections at our institution but hopefully that is everything.

Morning everyone,

We've just identified a problem with electronic service level overrides suddenly not working (not all of them strangely, but there are quite a few we've found so far where this is the case).

I'm wondering if this has something to do with the Alma July release, as the title which alerted us to this problem originally apparently stopped working yesterday.

Here's an example:

[cid:image005.png at 01D653D7.4ABF8DB0]

This error comes up when trying to access any of the portfolios:

[cid:image006.png at 01D653D7.4ABF8DB0]

Interestingly if I take out the service parser parameters override, save it and then put the override straight back in and save again, all works OK.

Is anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Kind regards,

Tracey
