[Wactclc-alma] multiple records in numerical order

In Alma, sorting of items also defaults to Description.

(Alma and Primo actually use the same set of sort routines that are defined under Configuration / Resources / General Settings / Physical Item Sort Routines.)

And you have some flexibility to adjust the Alma sort on the fly, using the 'sort routine' dropdown, as shown below.

For Primo, you can customize physical item sorting under

Configuration Menu > Resources > General > Physical Item Sort Routines<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/060Alma-Primo_Integration/060Configuring_Alma_Delivery_System/020The_Primo_Get_It_Tab#Configuring_the_Sort_Order_of_Physical_Items>

The list of physical items under 'Get it' in Primo will always sort by library/location first. And then, usually by Description, unless the sort has been customized.

So, Valerie, you are correct in thinking that you want to edit the description field to impact item sorting.

We have 95 Chromebooks in one record titled "Chromebook".  They are assigned with numbers 1-95 but the records are not in order by that number.  Currently, there are a couple of places the assigned number appears, we have not been consistent with the records but we will fix that.
If we were to place this assigned number in, say, the description space would we be able to sort them by that number?  Is there another field that would work better?

What I'm ultimately trying to do is get them into numerical order by the assigned number (not barcode)...and keep them that way when we add more Chromebooks.
