Dang, 200 is a higher number than I would have guessed.

It's a tough one.

With the continued crunch in library staffing, it's tough to keep everything covered.

So, Lesley, is the idea that you wouldn't create an item for an issue in Alma unless / until someone wanted to check it out?
Correct. We're thinking this would save time and money in materials.

How many physical subscriptions does Pierce maintain?
About 200 across both campuses.

And is demand mostly for in-house use? (I'm assuming that's the case. Otherwise, why keep the subscriptions?)
Yes, in house checkout is much higher. As to why keep the subscriptions, that's a bigger question. A lot of our reference librarians are very concerned with losing access to physical periodicals. Serials subscriptions have been a big topic of conversation this year!

Hi everyone,

We're looking for ways to streamline our serials work as the number of issues we circ is much smaller than the number of issues we process.

I'm looking into the process for Creating Items while in Manage Patron Services, and it seems pretty straight forward!

Is anyone else doing this already? If so, how's that working for you?
