[Wactclc-alma] Intl Book Collection

Aha!  Greg let me know that their International Book Collection isn't a local *electronic* collection, it's another type of thing that Alma calls a collection. Alma Online Help says:

A collection (unrelated to an electronic collection; see Managing Electronic Collections<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/050Inventory/020Managing_Electronic_Resources#Managing_Electronic_Collections>) is an entity that aggregates bibliographic records that have a relationship of some kind. A collection can be based on topic or subject matter, for example a collection titled "The Beatles" (based on the popular rock music band) which holds records of physical items, including biographies and sheet music, digital audio and video of live performances and studio recording sessions, and any number and type of song and record album holdings. A collection has its own bibliographic record. The collection can include records associated with different resource types (physical, digital, and electronic).

This is starting to make sense now.

Greg-For this particular Collection, edit the LDR field in the MD Editor using that Edit >> Open Form Editor trick I mentioned.  Where you see Type of record, use the dropdown menu to change the code to: a - Language material

You can set the Type of record code according to the materials you've put into your Collection.  I'd recommend only setting Type of record to be p - mixed materials if your Alma Collection contains titles in a bunch of different formats (e.g. book and DVDs and streaming videos and music CDs).

If you do want to change the label in Primo VE from "Archival material" to be "Collections of Books and Movies" make sure that you don't have any other bib records in Alma where Type of record = p.  You can check this with an Alma Analytics report in the Titles subject area.  Under the Bibliographic Details folder, add Material Type to the report and filter for Mixed Material.  You may also want to filter for Lifecycle and Suppression status.  See screen shot below:

To reiterate what I mentioned in another email, we didn't create these via original cataloging, we used the Collection Resource Editor feature that was introduced into Primo VE and highlighted extensively during ELUNA.

ETA, the info I'm most interested in from each screen is:

Electronic Collections - Type
Purchase Order Lines - Type

MD Editor:
Do an All Titles search to find the Collection bib record
Select Edit
Position the cursor on the LDR field and select Edit >> Open Form Editor
Position the cursor on the 008 field and select Edit >> Open Form Editor

I don't really think the Electronic Collection Type and POL Type are having any effect, but you never know. ;)
