Another note, even though Ex Libris automatically assigns the term "archival material" to records where the character "p" shows up as the sixth character in the LDR field, this code is supposed to be used for "collections of mixed materials" (i.e. a bunch of things in lots of different formats) according to existing MARC documentation.

Okay with screenshots from Alma:

I followed Wade's directions and visited the labels page. I wasn't sure what the actual field is called in Primo VE, so I used Google Chrome's "inspect" feature to figure it out:

Found the media labels called "Advanced Media Type":

Scrolled down. Got to Archival Materials:

Went back. Had to select "edit" to go to the editable table. Decided to rename it to "Collection of Books and Movies" since that's the only kind of collections we have and it seems to "make sense" in the context of the user.

As of now, it hasn't updated in Primo, so I'll check on it tomorrow since I'm not sure how instantaneous UI changes are.

As for the MARC Record for Collections, I haven't investigated them fully but this is what they look like in Alma before any customization:

The material type icon and label in the Primo VE brief results is driven by the material code in the MARC record.

To change the label for a material type, just go to Discovery / Labels, search the label descriptions for the one you want to change, and then update the label.

This will change the Primo VE brief results material type label for any record that has the associated material type in the MARC record.

You will need to edit individual records to change the material type for a specific record.

Here is the table of the out-of-the-box material type labels, and the material codes from the MARC fixed fields to which they correspond:

MD Editor:
Do an All Titles search to find the Collection bib record
Select Edit
Position the cursor on the LDR field and select Edit >> Open Form Editor
Position the cursor on the 008 field and select Edit >> Open Form Editor

I don't really think the Electronic Collection Type and POL Type are having any effect, but you never know. ;)
