[Wactclc-alma] [External] RE: [EXT] RE: Receipt printers

We date stamp a "date due" sticker on the back of the book. The stickers have room for about 10 date stamps. The stickers pull up easily if someone wants to read the back of the book and the sticker is covering it.

Hi, Stephanie -

At RTC we tell them their due date, and that they will be getting an email with the information, plus reminders when the item is due.

For the very few who need an informal, but paper, date reminder, we will also write the due date on a sticky note,

We have a procedure for printing out their Loan Receipt letter from the Attachments tab if they are really insistent, but have never used it, to my knowledge.

Thanks Gerie. I think that will be the way we end up going....it's just a matter of exploring all the options and seeing what other people are doing as well.

B.A. (before Alma) we had receipt printers. Since implementation, we've configured Alma to send receipts.

Now, we just say "you'll be getting an email in your school email inbox". They get one email at checkout and another when items are returned. (Good for when people ask for a "receipt").

No one has complained about too many email messages.

The date due cards and stamps are now a lovely keepsake for nostalgic library staff.

Thanks,

Hi,

I searched the consortia emails but couldn't find anything, so not sure if this has been discussed and I just missed it. I'm just curious as to what other colleges are doing in regards to giving out loan receipts when patrons check out materials. Do you rely on the system emails that are sent out for patrons to check to see when their items are due? We're still stamping due date cards each day. Do you use a receipt printer (much like a grocery store receipt printer or public library receipt printer) to print out a receipt? If you are, what are you using? Is it set up like just like you would normal printing in Alma, or are there extra steps?

I'm curious since I'd like us to not have to stamp due date cards anymore and am curious what other colleges are using/doing.

Thanks,
Stephanie
