Yes, this configuration (which requires an SF ticket for TotalCare / non-VE sites) will control whether a getit or viewit link will display in a new window, or in an iFrame.

Lily, if you want your DOAJ records to open in a new window, rather than in an iframe like you have now, you can open an SF ticket for Primo, provide a permalink to an example citation, and tell them you want the link to open in a new window.

This won’t address the link’s ability to resolve to the article level. I’m not sure what is causing that issue, but I feel like it is somehow metadata related, rather than configuration related.

Ok, quick follow-up. Here's some notes I have about it: "In Primo Back Office, GetIt template and mapping tables are customizable (thought not advisable by Ex Libris). In Primo VE, these linking customization tables are not exposed. At some Primo institutions, there is heavy link customization within the GetIt templates area of Primo. Within Primo VE, links of this type are handled at the view level through General Electronic Services within the Fulfillment area instead of the links section of the normalization rules. GES links/link templates are not currently sensitive to data source, though they are sensitive to metadata based conditions to control when the links are seen or not." So that explains why I can't find that table in Alma right now.

I'll keep looking through my notes to see if there are better workarounds for this.

Oh! I ran into this problem at OSU with DOAJ especially, where it would display an unhelpful iframe of the page instead of just the direct link to the resource. In the PBO there was this fantastic table for GetIt Link1 and GetIt Link2 configurations where would could specify "full@@activate" if we wanted the service loaded in the iframe or "out@@display" if we just wanted a direct link.

Since so much of that was strewn about the Alma interface in terms of actually configuring things, I'm going over my Primo vs. Primo VE notes to see if I can find something more specific. Will continue looking! But I think that deleted and reloading the collection isn't wholly needed.

Just be sure to let the collection fully deactivate and delete, since it’s a big one.

just waiting overnight, and reactivate the following day, would be my suggestion.

The Centralia instance does provide a direct to the article (https://wactc-centralia-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=TN_doaj_soai_doaj_org_article_68aa1c6a2254455180b55e067c45ad02&context=PC&vid=CENTRALIA_V1&search_scope=EVERYTHING&tab=default_tab&lang=en_US ), while Skagit does not.

I do not see any configuration differences between the two, so I believe the issue must be related to metadata.

I think the issue in the Skagit Primo might just be stale metadata somewhere.

Elena (and probably Lily at SPSCC as well), the easiest thing to do is to deactivate and then delete the DOAJ collection in your institution zone. Then wait overnight, and reactivate it fresh from the community zone.

That may resolve the issues you are both seeing with not being linked directly to the article from the DOAJ collection.

Elena,
I asked Wade on the list last week (related to direct linking). He responded that it is explained here:

Configuration Menu > Fulfillment > Discovery Interface Display Logic > Online Services Order

Oh, that’s a great idea, Amy. I will do the same. Where can we demote a collection – is it somewhere in the collection record in Alma, or is there a way to demote open access sources in general?

Our DOAJ links only go to the title level as well. In fact I renamed the collection to include a short note to warn that it does so! I am also planning to demote DOAJ to the bottom of the collection order, if more than one collection of ours has the article. The default order is alphabetical so it currently appears at the top.

Lily, our link to DOAJ works, however, I'm only linking to the journal title, not the specific article.

Ryer, when you click on the full-text link, does it go to the article itself? If so, how did you set that up? This is an increasing frustration for us with many of the open access titles. Students end up having to do their search twice, or more frequently, just giving up and leaving the site altogether...

Hi Lily,

My set up looks exactly the same as yours and we’re not having issues. I checked with this same title.

Looking at the linking tab, it looks like the parser parameters are using http. DOAJ is now secure https. But again, mine is working with the http setting… There may be something more too. Does access fail when looking at the portfolios in the service editor?

That’s cool how you have the online access as embedded. Does that scale ok across various devices? Perhaps this embedding is causing issues?

Help! I’m having trouble with my DOAJ links. I’m getting an error page in my Online Access section, but when I scroll down to the Links section, the View full text in DOAJ link works and takes me to the article. I’ve looked at my activation for DOAJ and they seem fine to me (BTW, I’ve suppressed the bib record for the collection itself, but not the portfolios).

Am I missing another step?
