[Wactclc-alma] Information Update- change physical items job

The statistics note field is the Schroedinger’s cat of Alma fields.  It’s simultaneously a free-text field and a field with pre-set values.

The pre-set values only work when you select them manually from the Physical Item Editor display.

If you use a job to batch update the field, then the field functions as a free-text field.  As an extra added wrinkle, if you want the statistics note field to show the *description* from the table of your pre-set values, then you have to enter the *code* from the table of your pre-set values when you Run A Job to update the Statistics Note field.

For example:

Our Item Statistics Note 1 table has the following:

Code: wd-d
Description: withdrawn/damaged

If I want to see “withdrawn/damaged” in the Statistics Note 1 field after running a job to update the field in batch, then I have to enter “wd-d” as the value I want added to the Statistics Note 1 field in Run A Job.

We found this out the hard way.

Hello, all!

I’ve added a “statistics note 2” field with 2 possible entries. I created a set of the titles and I ran the “change physical items” job to bulk change the field. However, in that job under the Statistics note fields, I don’t get a drop down option menu. I manually typed in the entry I wanted, thinking that would work. Nope- instead I get the typed phrase with a (not listed) after it.

Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong?
