It's interesting that when I submitted the case following the advice from our last call (hoping they will log it as another institution who is interested in getting the feature whenever they happen to get it functioning again), they immediately set the case to "closing" with this message. So, Wade, do you still recommend that we open cases with them about this if we want it in the future?

Thanks to Elena at SVC for opening a case to have patron merge functionality activated in their Alma instance.

As was rumored (and as we discussed in a recent Tuesday call), this functionality has indeed been delayed, due to potential data damage. The functionality will be re-done, and provided in a future release, as per the case notes:

Our Development team has decided to postpone the deployment of the new Merge Patron Records feature and the addition of this privilege to a future release. The expected release is not known at this time. This decision was made due to a risk of data damage upon running the job.
