Thanks for passing that on, Dan.  I’m happy to note that they appear to have finally fixed the issue – perhaps as a result that that discussion?  All of Renton’s jobs ran completely and finished last night.  It’s the first time since early November this has happened.

Update from ExL this morning: " We have discussed the large Community Zone Update Job with our developers. They confirmed that there is a very large update and it is necessary for the job to continue running. We are monitoring the situation. Some unrelated jobs might see slower performance, but this job should not be halting or prohibiting other jobs from completing that are not dependent upon the CZ job (imports/publishing). Please provide any examples of job id where the job failed to complete due to the CZ job so that we can investigate further."

I don’t recall that any our institutions are doing any kind of local authorities work.

I’m not sure why the job is dependent on the “synchronize changes from CZ” job. I’m sure there’s a reason.

In any case, looking at a couple of our Alma instances, the Sync Changes from CZ jobs appear to have caught up now, as of yesterday afternoon.

There are actually two jobs that are failing.

The first is “Synchronize changes from CZ job “ under the Data Services tab. The second job is under the Repository tab, and is titled  “Authorities - Handle Local Authority Record Updates”.

Is that also one we don’t have to worry about?

All this job does is update the information in the Community Zone Updates Task List.

Therefore, it runs at low priority, and completes as there are idle resources within the Alma Data Center.

And if you aren’t using the Community Zone Updates Task List (to see what community zone updates have occurred recently), the job has no impact on you at all.

ExL is still investigating it. The current consensus is that it's not that bad of an issue, as any data missed in a previous run is added to the next run. But I'm also not confident about seeing red flags every time I log into Alma.

Ex Libris replied this morning. They state that following jobs in that job set will pick up any information that fails in the previous job. I take this to mean that the full set of changes in the CZ are being synchronized after the final job but that, because Alma always tries to be helpful, we see those failures.

They said they'll continue to investigate, however.

Is anyone else seeing the "synchronize changes from CZ" job failing every three to four operations? The error is always the same: "This instance of the job is skipped since previous instance of the job is still running."

This started happening on the 6th - wasn't that when the November update was installed?
