[Wactclc-alma] Another crowdsourcing question: Update/Notify Users

Right, I forgot.

The letter is more designed to notify users in some specific scenarios (password change, social login, etc).

For more general use, you would need to do some customization.

The easier thing for a shorter list of users might be to identify the users via analytics, and then use the 'send general mail' option from the user record inside the 'manage users' interface.

Yep - I did that. I ran a test with a set of three library employees. I edited the letter (User Notifications Letter), created the user set, and ran the job. The only thing I didn't do was mess with the XSL which I thought was optional... but I guess isn't :)

You need a set of users to use the update/notify users job.

Easiest way would be to identify the users via analytics, and then use that report to create a managed set of users (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Training/What's_New_Videos_2018/08_May_2018_Release/Create_a_Set_in_Alma_from_an_Alma_Analytics_Report<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fknowledge.exlibrisgroup.com%2fAlma%2fTraining%2fWhat%27s_New_Videos_2018%2f08_May_2018_Release%2fCreate_a_Set_in_Alma_from_an_Alma_Analytics_Report&c=E,1,m2ZceimLBJV3Tp8qKfPCeTFfL7_TQd80mlStuWBePPjAarj4U6Mx_nFVyHpyNWfCfYnHv69sJP-mLXQAVs6TXjG7Ibchvq8aZSWCRskY4T6T6L8kzzpu&typo=1> )

Lesley, for example, I created an analytics report in Pierce environment called 'users with active art checkouts', and then used that analytics report to create a managed set called 'wade'. (There are only a handful of users.)

You can use that set to send out a notice via update/notify users.

The only 'gotcha' I ran into was that I had to customize the column heading for 'Primary Identifier' to 'USERNAME', before Alma would create the set from the analytics report.

Has anyone used the Update/Notify Users job for the purposes of notifying? I was playing around with it to try to send an email to patrons who had art work checked out. In the end, I just emailed them from my Outlook account.

I'm curious if anyone has a success case to share!

Thanks!
Lesley
