[Wactclc-alma] changes showing up in Primo

Hi Wade:

I think I figured out what happened.  Here’s the very long convoluted story:

This all came about because a student wanted to check it out. When we looked for it in Primo, it showed up with the No holdings message in “Get it.” But, when I looked it up in Alma, it showed that Tech services was the permanent location. That is incorrect, so I changed it to read temporary location of Tech Services. That change did not show up in the catalog, which is when I sent the message to the listserv.

Then, we found the book, checked it out to the student, and when he returned it an hour or so later, it must have reset the location back to the Stacks.

So, anyway, after all of that, my real question is why in Primo, it’s showing up as “Check holdings” instead of “Available at Mount Vernon Main Shelves.”

The only other thing I can think of is that these titles are all in the process of being recataloged because they were in as a serial instead of as a monograph, and maybe something in the record (like the leader) is still identifying them as serials?

I see both of these records in Alma, and in Primo:

Best plays of 1928-29, MMSID: 991000552268902822

Best plays of 1929-30, MMSID: 991000552268802822

(You can search primo for: Best plays of 192* to see the titles in the same search.)

The items for both of them are visible in Primo, if you click on the title record (at least on my end).

It’s just that in the brief search results, one says “available” and one says “check holdings”.

Off the top of my head, I’m not sure why that might be. Did you just add a new item to the 1928-29 record today, maybe?

Paula is correct.

Changes to item location will appear right away.

(Things like item status and location are collected by Primo from Alma in real time, at the time of the search.)

If you’re not seeing a change to a location, make sure you’re looking at the correct item, and remember that if a location has an external name assigned in Alma, that’s the name that will show up in Primo.

Hi all:

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I can't remember what things show up in real time in Primo and what things take 24 hours. If I add a temporary location to an item, shouldn't that show up as soon as I make the change? Or, is that one of the things that takes 24 hours to appear?
