[Wactclc-alma] Problem with phone numbers when updating user information

When trying to use the Edit User Info screen under Manage Patron Services to temporarily extend patron expiration and purge dates, each time I click Update User I get the following:

The phone number field is blank and I cannot figure out how to make the phone number numeric.  I’ve tried (509) 999-9999, 509-999-9999, 509.999.9999, 509 999 9999, and 5099999999, and none are accepted.
Student and employee phone numbers are uploaded from SMS and PPMS on the Contact Information tab but none are designated as Preferred.  I cannot find a way to designate a phone number as preferred.

At this point the Edit User Info screen is useless and I’ve had to go to the full User Details and Open For Update.  Any suggestions?
