[Wactclc-alma] [ALMA-L] Credoreference linking problems with ezproxy?

I had a different experience with Credo. When I set it up in 2015, I was told that there is no title-level integration possible in Primo, only article (reference entry) level. Attached is the conversation I had with Credo Support.

When I first activated Credo in PCI, all I got in Primo were links to reference entries, which took me directly to the reference entry in Credo. This drove me nuts because dictionary entries appeared more often than encyclopedia entries and clogged up my search results. Credo was able to fix that problem for me by suppressing the dictionary entries from showing (not sure, but I think you can do it yourself in Credo admin, too).

Looks like they’re doing a weird hybrid of showing reference entries in Primo and landing on book level in Credo now. Innovative (insert sarcasm).

More on the topic of Credo links in Primo, I did post to the Alma list.

I just got back this response from Maria and Portland Community College.

Their experience is that Credo only links to the book level, and not article level.

But Maria’s info is from 2014, so we may learn something new from the case I opened.

Hi Wade -

When we went live, we had the same problem - Credo article records were linking to the title-level when users followed them. I was told at the time that it's because the collection linking level is book. Case 00046167: "so yes, credo will always send you to the book level and there the users will need to search for the entry. (nothing to do with PCI) the linking level is set by the KB on the CZ and cannot be control by you, you can try to control it if you create your own local package and there you control the service level, but if it was possible to link to the article level for this collection the KB team would have set it so. I discussed this with them and it is not possible." Of course, this was back in 2014!! So things may have changed.

Mostly I just wanted to say hello up there and I hope you are well! It's fun to see you on the ExL lists, even if I miss you on the Alliance lists. Hope you're enjoying your work, and hooray for community/technical colleges!!! :)

Take care -

Maria

Thanks, Jennifer.

I did take a look at the same article citation in your Primo, and the Credo URL you get is the same as ours, and goes to the title, rather than an article.

I do believe that the Credo PCI citations were previously linking to the article, and I’ve opened a ticket for our environment on that point.

HI Wade,
I was testing from Alma, not Primo, so the PCI shouldn’t play a part in this.

Thanks,

A follow-up question about the CredoReference topic from last week?

Do you have Credo activated in the PCI?

If so, are your viewit links for Credo articles directing you to the article level, or just the title level?

In our case, the links are getting us just to the title level. Previously, the Credo PCI links would get us to the article.

Here is a permalink to a Credo article in one of our Primo instances:

https://wactc-renton-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=TN_credo21702569&context=PC&vid=RENTON_V1&search_scope=EVERYTHING&tab=default_tab&lang=en_US

You won’t be able to authenticate through our proxy, but you could find the same article in your Primo, and see if you get to the article properly, or just the title.

Jennifer,
Thank you for alerting us to this problem. I've made the edit you provided and we can now access off campus.

Hello,
Is anyone experiencing EZProxy errors when linking to CredoReference content from Alma/Primo? We are using OCLC’s includefile for Credo. ExLibris changed the linking parameters for the CredoReference collections from http to https on March 13, 2018, and we are now experiencing this message:

“Oops! It looks like you have attempted to view a page that has not been configured for access.

If you are a library patron...

Please contact your library and provide the name of the resource you were trying to access and the Host line below so the library can work with you to correct this error.

    Host https://www.credoreference.com

After taking a look at OCLC’s stanza for Credo, this url looks to be configured. In Alma, we quickly edited the collection’s service parser parameters to use the second url (https://search.credoreference.com) instead of the first (https://www.credoreference.com), and we were able to link correctly. I’ve opened a ticket with ExLibris about this, inquiring if the changing of the urls from second to first position would alleviate this problem, but I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue and if you agree it’s an ExLibris problem or if it is an OCLC stanza problem.

Thank you,
Jenn
