Yes, I did get some feedback and Janet proposed the following that both Chris and I agree with:
Certain provisions of Washington State law make some students eligible for a variety of tuition waivers and other benefits. The purpose of the following questions is to determine your tuition rate, eligibility for other benefits, and/or tuition waivers. Information submitted on the admissions application is confidential and protected under FERPA. Your information is kept confidential and may not be released without your prior written consent with limited exceptions.

___ Citizen of another country (Selecting this may incur the highest tuition rate. Please note that you can contact the college after acceptance to provide clarifying details that may impact your tuition rate.)

Hi Joe,
I wanted to be sure to follow up on the homework I had agreed to do. I ran the following draft by Chris Melton and Janet Garza. Janet has been too busy to review but Chris agreed with this so I thought I would go ahead and forward it for consideration by the workgroup.
"Regarding concerns that students, parents and other partners may have about the confidentiality of information submitted on the admissions application, the purpose of the following questions is to determine your residency and eligibility for certain types of aid and/or tuition waivers. Students' records are protected under FERPA. Your information is kept confidential and may not be released without your prior written consent with limited exceptions."
If I hear back from Janet with any issues to the draft, I will let you know.

OAA Workgroup Members: attached are draft meeting notes from our June meeting. Thanks for a very robust conversation and some forward movement. Please let me know if I missed anything or got anything wrong in the notes. You will notice that two of the homework items are for all Workgroup members. Since our July meeting is several weeks away (July 23), please use this listserv for communication between now and then.
Here is a link to a Doodle Poll for a meeting in August: https://doodle.com/poll/vbex6ngsygpd6bzt. Please complete the Poll as soon as possible. Scheduling meetings in August is always challenging, but if we can get something on the books soon maybe we can defy the odds!
