Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, Associate Director of Student Equity and Inclusion. The position assists the college in creating a campus climate that is inclusive and welcoming to all students, especially systemically non-dominant populations. To that end, this position focuses on supporting diversity at Clark College by providing direct student services, program support, and activities that foster a multicultural perspective. The position attends to retention and completion of systemically non-dominant students. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Position Responsibilities

Provide oversight of the functions of the Diversity Center.

Assure coverage in the Diversity Center during all hours of operation.

Properly maintain, inventory, and develop the Diversity Center with the assistance of Center staff and student workers.

Supervise staff in accordance with state and federal law, College policies and procedures, and applicable union contract.

Provide and document direct services to students to navigate students through the college system and connect them to resources.

Monitor, assess, and regularly report outcomes on strategies to retain, mentor, and improve the graduation and completion rates of underrepresented student populations.

Provide regular written reports.

Make presentations to the college community or other audiences.

Represent Clark College at Multicultural Student Services Directors' Council meetings.

Plan and facilitate student programs and activities sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Equity.

Regularly prepare reports and analytical materials to illustrate strategies, assessments, and outcomes of areas of responsibility.

Foster tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity.

Serve as a liaison to campus partners in support of non-dominant students.

Support the implementation of the Social Equity Plan.

Exercise fiduciary responsibility.

Create a safe, bias-free working environment, which engenders respect for differences.

Assist with college-wide student retention strategies.

Select, train, supervise, and evaluate Peer Mentors.

Preparation of annual Multicultural Student Affairs budget request; providing oversight of the budget and associated programming. Project, monitor, maintain, initiate and/or approve expenditures on program budget.

Maintain records for the Multicultural Student Affairs Program.

Serve as a role model by exhibiting open and collegial communication with all faculty, staff, and students.

Provide appropriate and adequate direction in support of students.

Know and follow College procedures related to travel and purchases, keeping in mind timelines, deadlines, and student safety.

Provide leadership in accordance with the Vision, Values, and Core themes established by the college to achieve mission fulfillment.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies



Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution.

Two years of professional experience in a higher education setting.

One year of supervisory experience.

Excellent writing skills.

Weekend and evening availability for events and travel is required.

Demonstrated ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master Degree from an accredited institution.

Bi-lingual/multi-lingual.

Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and identities.

Budget management experience.

Five years of professional experience in a higher education setting Two years of experience supervising professional staff.

Professional community college experience Supplemental Information Salary Statement:

$54,892 annually
