 Dear WA Pressbooks Admins,

Thank you so much for your leadership in advocating for and implementing Pressbooks for 2022-2023! The one-year Pressbooks subscription for our 34 colleges, sponsored by Washington State Library, concluded on 11/20, 2023.

Together, we have made significant progress, including the creation of 1,055 total books, with 814 updated in the past six months. The learning materials published by Open Washington using Pressbooks have achieved impressive reach, attracting over 50,000 unique visitors since July of this year alone, which is a more than 100% increase compared to Fall 2022. The total page views have also steadily increased to over 125,000 since July.

Please see the attached Open Washington Pressbooks Network One-Year Impact Report.

With the subscription having ended yesterday (11/20/23), unless your college has renewed its own contract with Pressbooks (bought into OpenWa Pressbooks network as a Premium Member), this is what to expect:

  * Your faculty members will continue to be able to access and edit the books they created during the time of the subscription; however, they will no longer be able to create new books on Pressbooks.

  * Your faculty members and students can still create a Pressbooks account with their college email address.

  * College administrators can continue to edit the college catalog.

If your college wishes to get a quote for renewal of the subscription, please contact John McLeod (john at pressbooks.com<mailto:john at pressbooks.com>) who will guide you through the process. Thanks again for your leadership.

Subject: Pressbooks Update for College Administrators

Dear Pressbooks Admins,

I would like to share a few reminders and clarifications regarding the Pressbooks statewide subscription.

  *
The Pressbooks statewide subscription will end on November 20, 2023.

  *
For colleges that are interested, there is an option to buy into the Open Washington Pressbooks Network independently.

  *
The college subscription fee will range approximately from $3,000 to $7,000, depending on your college's FTE. If you require a quote, please let me know.

  *
Even if your college decides not to renew the subscription, faculty members will still retain access to edit any books created this year. They will also have the ability to add collaborators as necessary. The only restriction will be the inability to create new books. Please encourage your faculty members to initiate as many books as they require this year, as they will be able to continue developing them even after the subscription concludes.

  *
If you want your students to create accounts so that faculty can invite them to co-author books, just let me know. I'd be happy to add the students' email domain address to the list of allowed domains (if it's different from the faculty/staff email domain address).

  *
To access important information such as first steps, FAQs, training resources, and accessibility details, please visit the Pressbooks Resources page<https://sites.google.com/view/openwa-pressbooks-resource/home>. If you are new administrators, I highly recommend reviewing the "Read Me First" and "FAQ" documents and signing up for the monthly Pressbooks trainings.

  * As a college admin or point person, you are welcome to send any troubleshooting inquiries directly to Pressbooks at premiumsupport at pressbooks.com.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
 :-)
