Dear English faculty friends and colleagues:

First off, thank you so much to those of you who attended the Informative Webinar<https://youtu.be/P4c1mP2Kvlc> about the Antiracist Writing Assessment Ecology (AWAE) grant <https://bit.ly/2CcZoo0> last Friday, September 18th, 2020.

As we mentioned at the webinar, the core team<https://bit.ly/3hyZLsV> really wanted our first interaction with all of you to give you an idea of the kind of work we will be doing over the year.
In addition to meeting the members of the core team, Asao B. Inoe walked us through an antiracist reading process of the grounding principles<https://bit.ly/3hv7Y0s>.

The grounding principles emerged during the hours of collaboration, dialogue, and discussion as we designed the structure of the grant and the other supporting materials ... as we grappled with the question posed by deep reading of the SBCTC vision statement<http://bit.ly/SBCTCVISION>: What does it mean to lead with racial equity in the context of this grant?

Now we'd love an opportunity to go deeper into the structure of the grant and the labor instructions with those of you who can join us for the first of our upcoming Q&A sessions.
Here's a brief description of what we'll do together this Friday, October 2nd, 2020, at 3:30 PM:

  * Lay out the basics of the application process, including what the participants will be doing<https://bit.ly/2COmj9q> and the labor instructions<https://bit.ly/3l8QpWz>
  * Address a few questions we have heard from our colleagues around the state regarding team make-up and adjunct participation
  * Split into breakout rooms, facilitated by a member of the core team, for longer facilitated discussion based on questions raised by participants
  * Come back and hear from each of the breakout rooms

Want to attend?
Please RSVP to me, Jen Whetham, at jwhetham at sbctc.edu
I'll also be posting the Zoom information to the (de)Composing ENGL&101 Canvas shell.<http://bit.ly/2t1EO2a>
