The SBCTC Assessment, Teaching, and Learning office<http://bit.ly/2kDqBn8> is now accepting nominations from each of the 34 Washington State community and technical colleges (CTCs) for the Assessment, Teaching, Learning, and Equity Award<http://bit.ly/2SP01Iu>.

What is this Award?
This award honors the significant contributions of an individual, team, or group in assessment, teaching, and learning in the spirit of the SBCTC Vision Statement: <http://bit.ly/SBCTCVISION>

“Leading with racial equity, our colleges maximize student potential and transform lives within a culture of belonging that advances racial, social, and economic justice in service to our diverse communities.”

Recipients of the ATL Award will be recognized during a luncheon reception at the 2020 Assessment, Teaching, and Learning Conference<http://bit.ly/2020atlc> on May 6th, 2020, at the Lynnwood Convention Center in Lynnwood, Washington.

When Are Nominations Due?
Nominations are due Friday, March 13th, 2020 by 5:00 PM

What is the Nomination Process?
Each public institution of higher education in Washington State can make one nomination. Please coordinate the institution's nomination through the office of the senior academic office (such as the vice-president for instruction or the provost) or that office's designee.

  *   Determine your institution's nominee.
  *   Write a nomination letter of 1 to 2 pages using the selection criteria below.
  *   Send your nomination letter to Jackie Eppler-Clark at jeclark at sbctc.edu

Nomination Criteria
Your institution may nominate an individual (such as a faculty member, chair of a committee or project, or a dean), a team (such as project co-leads), or a group (such as a department or committee).

Award nominees must be

  1.  in a position to directly or indirectly affect student learning in a public two- or four-year college in Washington state.
  2.  present at the conference to receive the award.

Note: If the recipient is a group, then 1 person must be present to accept the award.

Selection Criteria
Write a letter of 1 to 2 pages to the selection committee that addresses how your institution’s nominee meets or exceeds the criteria below. As you write, please keep the SBCTC Vision Statement in mind:

“Leading with racial equity, our colleges maximize student potential and transform lives within a culture of belonging that advances racial, social, and economic justice in service to our diverse communities.”

  *   Specific contributions or accomplishments in teaching, student learning, assessment, and racial equity
  *   Versatility and willingness to take risks, bringing to the learning process and environment multiple strategies and materials that create a culture of belonging, maximize student potential, and transform lives
  *   Enthusiasm about organizational learning, continued education, and current research in the field
  *   Contributions to the profession by presenting to faculty, community groups and conferences, publishing, or taking leadership roles in educational organizations
  *   Works to create a culture of belonging at all levels of the institution; strives to create respectful and equitable relationships with both students and colleagues
