Thanks to all of you who have indicated interest in institutional pricing for the 2020 Fall Faculty Institute<https://bit.ly/31TP7aq>!

While we face significant challenges as a CTC system, the move to online provides us an opportunity to offer new kinds of professional learning at incredibly reduced costs. To ensure as many faculty as possible have access to this event, SBCTC is offering a unique funding model for our colleges based on student FTE:

  *   0 to 2000 FTE: $750

  *   2000 to 5000 FTE: $1000

  *   5000 to 7000 FTE: $1250

  *   7000+ FTE: $1500

Purpose

The SBCTC Vision statement<http://bit.ly/SBCTCVISION> is a call to action for our entire system: "Leading with Racial Equity" is a collective responsibility. Across our 34 community and technical colleges across departments, disciplines, programs, and fields of study— many of our faculty have heard the call and wish to respond in the context of their role— to intentionally create socially just learning environments for our diverse student populations that are not just equitable, but actively antiracist.

Anticism is a verb, not a noun: we are always becoming, always unfinished. My hope for this event is to begin the process of community-organizing a critical mass of educators from all three mission areas who are passionate about participating in the iterative and reflective process of becoming antiracist at all kinds of levels: personal, organizational, and systemic.

We have a moment— a rare, pivotal, paradigm-shifting moment for a large number of faculty— adjunct, full-time, tenured, tenure-track—to gather together during the space between the end of summer quarter and the beginning of fall quarter for inquiry, sharing, and learning. While contractually this time can be a bit messy … it simultaneously provides a valuable time for reflection and planning not just for fall quarter, but for new ways of conceiving, perceiving, and healing the cultures of teaching and learning on our campuses that have been so deeply harmed by systemic racism and white supremacy.
