[Etag] [SPAM] Re: Updates to Canvas Cost Comparison and Support Overview

That’s a good question, Paul. What are the FTEs used for the total calculation?

Two thoughts:

  * What do our forecasts say about enrollments over the next few years? I wonder if we could back-load the increases. In other words, year 1 is a 2% increase, year 3 is 3%, etc. Then our actual dollar cost wouldn’t increase as fast.
  * I’d say hell no on the 10% increase. That reads like someone didn’t use the right baseline number. It’s a crazy amount.

Marc

One question, and an observation: Does the new estimate in Marc's sheet include the lower FTE totals, compared to 2019?

And I see that big ~10% increase, though also a reduction in the support costs, so the overall new contract cost is less. In year three of the new contract we get back to this year's total cost, and after that it keeps climbing.

Apologies if I missed the discussion on those points!

Paul

I totally agree Kevin. I am scheduled to meet with Abraham tomorrow morning, and I plan to ask him about this exact matter.

Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks for all the hard work on this. Are we really going to let them get away with a 10% increase for year one. This seems excessive, especially considering it is an additional 5% increases every year after that. I’d really like us to push back or understand what additional benefits they plan to provide for such an increase. This is where I worry that an open RFP process puts us in a huge disadvantage.

Greetings All,

I would like to extend my gratitude to Marc for his diligent work in creating the Canvas Cost Updates and Comparison spreadsheet. I have taken the liberty of incorporating additional details to visually represent the total cost variance, including Tier 1 Support. You can access the updated spreadsheet through the link provided below. The rationale behind this augmentation is to furnish Abraham, Joyce, and the SBCTC fiscal office with comprehensive insights.

Furthermore, I wish to ensure clarity regarding the disparity between our current 24/7 Support and the enhanced offering by Instructure, encompassing 24/7 Support coupled with Tier 1 Support, aside from the associated incremental expenses. Should any clarification be necessary, I have included a link below delineating the disparities.

Tomorrow, I will commence consolidating all the enhancements made to the benchmarks and priorities, with the aim of presenting them in a streamlined manner for our discussion with the Canvas Representative. Subsequently, I will circulate the updated document to all of you.

Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Respectfully,
