Here are the responses I’ve gotten from our VP of Student Services:


  1.  Who will be using this tool?

Almost everyone is any student services office, any faculty advisors, and most students


  1.  Is it tied to Guided Pathways in any way?

Absolutely, this is a mechanism that allows us meet many GP related goals (like tracking a student’s process, and providing wrap around support).


  1.  How is this different from what can be gained from CTC Link and Canvas

Canvas is a learning management software, it does not have a way to store advising notes, create academic plans, raise early alerts etc. ctcLink has some of this functionality but it works so poorly it is unusable which is why most colleges purchased a 3rd party software to make up for that.



  1.  Whose work does this impact most?

Student Services and faculty advisors

As I am representing DEOC at the Student Success Tool Taskforce, I am writing to get your feedback on considerations related to diversity and equity that impact criteria for the Student Success Tool. Also, please consider sharing and help identifying essentials in Student Success Tool as well non-essentials, but “nice to have” features. Check the draft Software evaluation rubric (attached) for the features.



I will need to share it back with the task force before the March 11 meeting. I look forward to hearing back from all of you.



If there is a need for Matt Campbell and/or Sara Thompson Tweedy, co-chairs for the task force, to join our commission meeting and help with any Q&A folks might have. Let me know.
