Good afternoon PIOs,

Please do not reply to this email.

The recent congressional hearing over antisemitism and Islamophobia, and heated debates on colleges campuses, have seized the attention of the media and lawmakers alike. You may receive questions from both at some point. You may be asked to provide:

  *   Any statements your college has issued and an explanation of why – or why not – you decided to issue a statement.
  *   Information on whether your campus has experienced any acts of antisemitism and Islamophobia and what you did about it.
  *   Whether there is anything in your student code of conduct that allows your college to take action against students who make antisemitic or anti-Muslim comments or calls to action.

Please remember that the media has access to emails through the Freedom of Information Act, including emails through listservs (including this one). If you receive a request from the media or a legislator/member of Congress, I would appreciate hearing from you on my cell phone below. So far, much of the attention is focused on universities, but please be aware of the potential for community and technical colleges to also receive requests.
