[ctcLinkfinaidsupport] Action Items: MP Issue #4 & #5 Exclude RS and Incarcerated Students from Packaging

Good Morning FA-

We are thrilled to share a solution that will address two items on the FAST Maintenance List: Exclude Running Start and Incarcerated Students from Packaging Selection!


Overview

  *   Issue: Running Start students are not eligible for traditional financial aid. Incarcerated students have limited eligibility for traditional financial aid.  The current packaging selection process does not have criteria to prevent a student in either population from being packaged traditional financial aid. As a result, staff must manually award students or cancel/adjust award offers after they are packaged, depending on eligibility.
  *   Proposed Solution: Update the packaging plan selection equation engines to search the students Student Group record to determine if the student is active in one of the three student groups and exclude the student from selection accordingly. Student Groups reviewed are: SRSR- Running Start, SDOC-Department of corrections & R2CP-Second Chance Pell.
  *   Estimated Implementation Timeframe: December 2023.


Action Items

  1.  Review the attached solution design document.
