Knowing is Half the Battle

DID YOU KNOW? The FY 24 sequester fees are the same as the FY 23 sequester fees. This means for all loans where the first disbursement is made on or after Oct. 1, 2020, and before Oct. 1, 2024, the loan fees are as follows: 1.057% for Direct Subsidized Loans and for Direct Unsubsidized Loans. As an example, the loan fee on a $5,500 loan would be $58.13.
FY 24 Sequester-Required Changes to the Title IV Student Aid Programs | Knowledge Center<https://fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/library/electronic-announcements/2023-05-15/fy-24-sequester-required-changes-title-iv-student-aid-programs#:~:text=The%20FY%2024%20sequester%20fees%20are%20the%20same,fee%20on%20a%20%245%2C500%20loan%20would%20be%20%2458.13.>

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? You do not have to use Direct Loan New Fee Item Types in AY 2024. You may continue to use Direct Loan 1 Item Types without having to switch out to New Fee Item Types on October 1.

HOW MANY CHECKLISTS ARE OUTSTANDING? Do you want to know how many checklists remain in an Initiated status for your MPNs, Entrance Counselings, and other loan-related, or any other checklists are hanging out there? You can run the query CTC_FA_CHECKLIST_LIST in Query Viewer. Do a sweep of students who have outstanding checklists.

A couple of years ago, we mentioned QCS_QUERY_DETAILS in the Weeklyish Bulletin.
The query has a new prompt, so we are bringing it back up as a resource.
You can look up all the queries in a specific FA folder by entering a wildcard “%” in the Query Name and the name of the folder in the Folder Name.

The query definition column is useful when determining the intended purpose of a query. Since most users cannot see this using Query Viewer.

The QRGs and BPGs are currently undergoing a continual overhaul to accommodate the upcoming PeopleTools 8.59 system upgrade. Keep your eyes peeled for a new look and feel of the QRGs in the coming months as we work through 4,000 QRGs and guides in the ctcLink Reference Center! If you want to take a looksie to see what they’re going to look like, you can check out the list of QRGs below.

Changes include:

  * Removing Nav Bar > Navigation > Main Menu navigation from the nav paths. Nav paths are still there, but will begin with Financial Aid > etc.
  * Removing the 9.2 from the QRG title
  * Removing and/or limiting the filler screen shots on the QRGs and replacing with MP4 Video Tutorials embedded in the QRG
  * Where necessary, adding relevant verbiage to support more complex features and functions in the process tasks
  * Added a Fundamentals section to the ctcLink Reference Center Homepage – where basic steps such as a Run Control ID or Process Scheduler is called out in the QRG, a link to the explanation of Run Control IDs and or Process Scheduler is linked to the Fundamentals section of the Reference Center.
