[WSSSC] Dual Credit Council Proposal from IC

I would like to see the technical high school programs called out in this as well. These programs offered at the technical colleges are often overlooked and we are forced to band aid solutions many times. I know our funding comes from OSPI, but these students often move on to be college students to finish their programs. Tracking and reporting can be difficult and they fall into a similar bucket as RS students (without having to allow the district to keep a portion of the funding). We are seeing huge growth in this area and I know other technical colleges are also.

This is great news and I am very excited, just want to make sure we don't leave out this group of students and the colleges that serve them.

Steve

Subject: Dual Credit Council Proposal for Community and Technical Colleges

**Attention all Washington Community and Technical Colleges**

Dear Colleagues,

We're pleased to share that during the Instruction Commission's spring meeting, a proposal to establish a new Dual Credit Council-encompassing CTE Dual Credit, College in the High School (CiHS), and Running Start (RS)-was officially approved.

The proposal is now under review by the Washington Association for Community and Technical Colleges (WACTC) and is scheduled for a vote by your college presidents this Friday.

What the Dual Credit Council Will Do:
The Council will serve as a formal structure to support and strengthen dual credit programs across the state. Its key responsibilities include:

  * Collaborating with State Agencies to align goals and maintain a unified vision for dual credit.
  * Informing Policy by providing proactive legislative recommendations that support community and technical colleges.
  * Creating Advising Tools such as brochures and materials to promote awareness and best practices.
  * Streamlining Processes for admissions, course building, transcription, and credit transfer.
  * Developing Unified Messaging to ensure consistent communication across institutions and stakeholders.

Should you or your leadership have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Stephanie or me directly. We'll follow up soon with the outcome of the vote and next steps regarding council membership and participation.

Thank you for your continued support of dual credit initiatives.
