WSSSC,
Please see below and attached. And also the message about NSC is below-
The NSC announced they made a 'major error' in fall enrollment reported in October that had shown declines in new students in fall, and the data shows growth after all. Unfortunately, there has already been significant media coverage drawing on the NSC's October fall enrollment counts, so there is a lot of messaging to be corrected. New numbers will be released in an updated report on the 23rd.
National Student Clearinghouse Research Center Finds a Methodological Error Affecting Preliminary Fall 2024 Higher Education Enrollment Reports | National Student Clearinghouse News<https://www.studentclearinghouse.org/news/national-student-clearinghouse-research-center-finds-a-methodological-error-affecting-preliminary-fall-2024-higher-education-enrollment-reports/>
This message will be distributed broadly to the college system.
Dear State Board members, chancellors, and presidents,
Washington's community and technical colleges (CTCs) enrolled 142.1 thousand full-time equivalent students (FTES) in fall quarter of 2024, a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 8% (+10,754 FTES). This marks the 8th consecutive quarter of YoY enrollment growth across the system. State-funded enrollment also increased 8% compared with last fall, ending the quarter around 99.5 thousand FTES. Contract-funded enrollment grew 9%, with 40.4 thousand FTES enrolling this fall. Student-funded enrollment was the only fund-source experiencing a decline, dropping 3% to 2,115 FTES.
Among select monitored programs, enrollment increased for:
* Applied Baccalaureate: up 9% (+424 FTES);
* Basic Education for Adults: up 10% (+1,392 FTES);
* Basic Food, Employment & Training: up 21% (+683 FTES);
* eLearning: up 9% (+7,912 FTES);
* I-BEST: up 21% (+681 FTES);
* International: up 14% (+776 FTES);
* International Contract: up 11% (+491 FTES);
* Running Start: up 11% (+2,826 FTES);
* WorkFirst: up 28% (+349 FTES); and
* Worker Retraining: up 13% (+631 FTES).
Two programs experienced declines in fall 2024:
* Apprenticeship is down 7% (-291 FTES); part of this decline is attributable to changes in coding practices.
* Corrections Contract: down 22% (-442 FTES).
All corrections enrollments, including both contract and non-contract, totaled 1,672 FTES in fall 2024. This is a newly monitored category, so no prior year comparison is available.
