[WSSSC] SBCTC Student Services Staffing Update

Good Afternoon WSSSC,

I am following up on our transition plan in Student Services-

I am excited to announce that Jessica Perez will be serving as Interim Policy Associate for Student Services. Jessica has over 13 years of higher education experience, with seven years in financial aid administration. Jessica has been serving as the District Director of Financial Aid at Pierce College, where she has led efforts to streamline financial aid processes, improve student service outcomes, and enhance compliance across campuses. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys hiking and spending time with her family, and is looking forward to joining the team.  Jessica will begin her new role on December 2, and her portfolio will consist of financial policy and implementation, Opportunity Grant, and staffing the Financial Aid Council (FAC). Our very own Melissa Williams, Policy Associate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, at SBCTC will now staff MSSDC. While transitions can be challenging, we look forward to the new year with a great team. I will continue to staff CUSP and be the main contact for student life and student programs.

Good Afternoon Colleagues:

I wanted to inform you that Yokiko Hayashi-Saguil will be transitioning out of her role as Policy Associate in the Student Services and K12 Alignment department and will be leaving the agency as of November 15, 2024. Yokiko has been a strong advocate for racial equity and has worked to elevate the student voice within our system. We thank Yokiko for her contributions to the agency and wish her well in next steps.
Effective immediately, I will be your point of contact for financial aid, opportunity grant, student life/leadership, and multicultural student services. I appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition period. I will be in touch soon with a detailed transition plan. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me directly with any policy questions or support needs.

FAC, CUSP, and MSSDC-please feel free to reach out directly to me during this transition. I will be communicating with you soon about a point of contact and support for your councils. Appreciate your understanding and grace during this time.
