Hello WSSSC,
Please see below regarding Vending Machine Grant Guidance from WSAC. Also, please expect HB 2112 Guidance Document coming from me soon. We are awaiting some guidance on the interpretation of the bill language from the ATG Office and DOH. Once that is complete, we will send it out ASAP. It's been designed to answer all your questions, provide direction, and the appropriate resources.

Subject: Vending Machine Grant Guidance

[Sent from outside SBCTC]

Hello Jamie, Christine, and Jenn,

WSAC will be offering a second round of state funded grants to public institutions to acquire vending machines with emergency contraception and overdose prevention supplies. Could you please share the attached guidance with CTCs? Feel free to use/adapt the message below if it's helpful.

I'll be scheduling an informational webinar the first week in September, and I'll share that invitation as soon as it is confirmed.

In FY24, several CTCs received this grant. While new institutions will be prioritized in this round, institutions that were previously funded do have the opportunity to apply for additional funds, and their applications will be reviewed starting October 7 (pending available funds).

Thank you,
Ami

Grant Opportunity: Vending Machines for Emergency Contraception and Overdose Prevention Supplies
The Washington State Legislature set aside funds to ensure that students and staff at public postsecondary institutions will have access to vending machines "stocked with emergency contraceptive medication and other forms of contraception, including condoms, and naloxone opioid overdose reversal medication administered by nasal inhalation and fentanyl test strips at discreet and geographically accessible locations, such as gender-neutral restrooms and student union buildings, and locations that are accessible on weekends and after 5:00pm."[1]
The Fiscal Year 2025 allotment of state operating budget provided funding to the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) for a grant pool dedicated to the acquisition, installation, and stocking of these vending machines by public postsecondary educational institutions. Grants of $10,000 per institution will be allocated by WSAC to institutions with a completed application on a first come/first served basis until the grant pool funds of $230,000 are exhausted. WSAC will give priority to applicants that did not receive funding in FY 2024 for emergency contraceptive vending machine(s). An additional $10,000 may be provided to institutions with more than 20,000 full-time equivalent students. While applications from institutions not previously funded will be prioritized, institutions funded in Fiscal Year 2024 can apply and will be considered beginning October 7 (pending available funds).
For more information about this grant program, please see the attached guidance. For additional questions, please reach out to the WSAC Grant Administrator, Ami Magisos, Associate Director of Strategy and Partnerships, Amim at wsac.wa.gov<mailto:Amim at wsac.wa.gov>.
