Attached is an updated version of SBCTC’s issue brief on HB 2112. This updated version includes:
· New information about the Washington State Department of Health Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution program (page 2), an ongoing program meant for organizations that distribute naloxone to community members, including students. Colleges can request supplies and trainings through the program.
· A link to a request form for fentanyl test strips and naloxone from Public Health-Seattle & King County (page 3).
· A date and link for a Washington Student Achievement Council webinar on vending machine grants (page 3).
We also removed dates from events that have already passed, and removed information about Vector Solutions training while we clarify offerings through the statewide contract.
Upcoming deadlines and events include:
* August 30 is the deadline to apply for naloxone and fentanyl test strips from the Department of Health under funding provided by HB 2112. Colleges can also request supplies from another, ongoing DOH program. Both programs are described on page 2.
* September 4 is a webinar from the Washington Student Achievement Council on how to apply for vending machine grants. See page 3.
* September 9 is the opening date to apply for a vending machine grant from the Washington Student Achievement Council. See page 3.
* September 18 is the next Department of Health online training for residence hall staff. See page 5.
* New: On Wednesday, October 2, Washington Friends for Life<https://wafriendsforlife.com/harm-reduction-partners> will hold a webinar on opioid information and awareness resources available through the program. The resources go beyond what is listed on the SBCTC issue brief. The Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88685621450. SBTC will send more information about this event in the future.
