Sue,

We are taking the same approach as you. This year we will send it out to all students to have them complete is as our student success course will become required this Fall. In future years, students will receive the training in student success.

Hi WSSSC-

It sounds like the Instructional Council had a robust conversation at their summer meeting about the requirement in SB 5227<https://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2021-22/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Laws/Senate/5227-S2.SL.pdf?q=20240731121453> to provide a program, either existing or new, on diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism to students beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. I understand that the DEOC is also meeting next week to discuss this.

Could folks share what they plan to do to meet this requirement?

At this time, LCC is looking to add the DEI Get Inclusive Course to our College Success class and send the course to students who don't have to take College Success. We plan to revamp our Diversity Course list to embed the content into those courses for next year.

Thanks for sharing what you know!
Sue
