Hello WSSSC Members,

As we approach our spring meeting, it is time to prepare the officer slate for 2023-2024. Below outlines the status of each position for next year.

President-Elect: VACANT
President: Claire Peinado
Past-President: will be vacant for 23-24, as there is no current president
Treasurer: VACANT - We ask that the treasurer serve in the role for two years for consistency. The treasurer also is the WSSSC liaison to the WACTC Operational Budget Committee.
Secretary: VACANT or Erin Blakeney is willing to continue if we do not have others who are interested

There are additional at-large positions that will be appointed by the incoming president. We generally wait until the core team is identified as those appointments may help achieve more equitable representation on the exec team.

If you are interested in pursuing one of these leadership roles, respond to this email<mailto:jgilmoreenglish at rtc.edu>. I am available to fill you in on duties, expectations, etc.. Details are also available in the WSSSC Constitution<https://www.sbctc.edu/resources/documents/colleges-staff/commissions-councils/wsssc/wsssc_constitution.docx> (link downloads as a Word document). Please indicate the position in which you are most interested, (president-elect, treasurer, secretary, at large, or no preference). It's not unusual for us find additional candidates during our meeting, before we take a vote on Friday. If you'd like to learn more about the roles during the meeting, anyone from exec or who has served previously would be happy to talk to you.

***Your level of experience or seniority are absolutely NOT requirements for these roles*** Multiple perspectives and diversity of thought are hallmarks of a strong team and a healthy organization. We need broad participation to guide the commission effectively. WSSSC Exec is a highly collaborative group and supportive network to move our work forward. You will be supported in an officer role (and have fun). We promise!

According to the Constitution, it is the role of the past-president to chair a nominating committee that will build the slate. Since that role is vacant, I'm putting my past-past president hat on with our Exec board to help coordinate. If you are not interested in pursuing an executive committee role, but would like to be involved in pressuring your colleagues to do so, help us fill our vacancies by nominating.
